Abstract
It is well known that the absorption–reemission process in scintillators plays an important role in determining the features of the detected photons. In this paper a methodology capable of leading to a quantitative assessement of such an effect is described, extending the usual simplified approach to the complex case of large size detectors. In particular, the mathematics describing the phenomenon is thoroughly developed for the special geometry of spherical detectors.
